Garmin ECG app
Garmin Venu 4 supports the Garmin ECG app. The ECG app is approved by the FDA. It can be used to take on-demand electrocardiogram readings of a user.
Garmin ECG app may be useful to improve overall cardiac health monitoring.
Venu X1 is not compatible with the Garmin ECG app.
Multi-band GPS support
Venu 4 also supports multi-band GPS mode. With the multi-band GPS sensor, your Venu 4 could take GPS data from multiple satellite systems at any given point in time.
The multi-GPS mode is useful when the GPS signals are poor or weak. This could be practical for Garmin users using the watch as pros, for cross country walks, hiking, and in city areas with dense population and skyscrapers.
Display experience
Both, Venu 4 and Venu X1 use AMOLED display technology. However, we find that the display of Venu X1 affords better display resolution due to the box or square shape of the watch.
Venu 4 offers display resolution of 448 x 486 pixels compared to Venu 4’s display resolution of 390 x 390 pixels.
Sapphire glass
For me, personally speaking, the most significant difference between Garmin Venu 4 and Venu X1 is that the Venu X1 uses Sapphire display glass. Venu 4 continues with the 3rd generation Corning Gorilla Glass in the display.
Sapphire display glass is costlier than Corning Gorilla 3 Glass. Sapphire glass is harder and is considered virtually scratch proof. It takes normal wear and tear associated with watch wearing with utmost ease.
If you are looking for Venu smartwatch with sapphire display, Venu X1 is the right option for you.
Storage
Internal storage of Venu X1 is 32 GB. Venu 4 only includes 8 GB internal storage. While storage difference may not make much difference for many users, it is prudent to know that internal storage of Garmin watches is used for storing offline music and maps (topo maps and Outdoor Maps).
It would be wise to make a note of the storage difference between the 2 watches.
SatIQ technology
Garmin Venu 4 includes SatIQ sensor to automatically toggle on or off the multi-band GPS mode.
Multi-band GPS mode uses more battery. So, automatic management of the multi-band GPS mode ensures optimal battery performance on a Venu 4.
Venu X1 lacks a SatIQ sensor and SatIQ technology as it lacks the multi-band GPS mode in the watch.
Closing thoughts
Venu X1 is targeted at Apple watch users who are looking to join the Android ecosystem. It is designed to look better than traditional Garmin watches.
Towards that end, it is also comes with the Sapphire display glass.
For all practical consideration, Garmin Venu 4 is loaded with features and is one of the more practical options available in the Garmin eco-system
Go for a Venu X1 for its Sapphire display. Else, Garmin’s Venu 4 ticks most boxes you would want of a smartwatch.
