Sapphire watches also tend to handle normal wear and tear very easily.

Coros Apex 2 Pro and Apex 2 use an LCD screen. Apex 2 Pro is slightly bigger and offers a marginally higher display resolution due to its size.

Apex 2 Pro is slightly thicker (14 mm) than Apex 2 (12.8 mm).

Coros Apex 2 Pro has a wider size than Apex 2. Apex 2 Pro does offer a decent storage of 32 GB while Apex 2 has internal storage of 8 GB only.

The biggest improvement in Apex 2 Pro in comparison with Apex 2 is the accuracy and reliability of GPS services.

Both, Coros Apex 2 Pro and Apex 2 support GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS satellite networks.

However, the Coros Apex 2 Pro supports dual-frequency or multi-band GPS. Apex 2 supports single-frequency GPS only. Apex 2 is not compatible with dual-frequency GPS technology.

Multi-band GPS or dual-frequency GPS helps in getting GPS data from multiple satellites at any given point in time.

If the GPS connectivity is poor or GPS signals are weak, multi-band GPS capabilities can help in getting the GPS data from alternate satellites. This improves GPS reliability and accuracy for the watch user.

Multi-band GPS does drain the battery faster. But, it is well worth the extra money spent on account of the vastly improved GPS data availability.

For the incremental expense of $100, we feel that Apex 2 Pro justifies the cost on account of dual-frequency GPS or multi-band GPS in the watch. It is a tech improvement well worth the money spent.

Apex 2 Pro does offer incremental battery backup.

However, in our experience and opinion, the battery backup difference may be inconsequential. Both watches support fast charging. You can go from an empty battery to full battery in less than 2 hours of battery charging.

Coros Apex 2 Pro comes at a list price of $449 and Apex 2 has a list price of $349.

Our choice between Coros Apex 2 Pro and Apex 2 has to be the Apex 2 Pro. There are solid reasons to spend the incremental cost of $100 on Apex 2 Pro.

  1. Dual-frequency GPS or multi-band GPS of Apex 2 Pro vastly improves the GPS performance.
  2. Apex 2 Pro does offer a higher battery backup than Apex 2 smartwatch.
  3. Apex 2 Pro comes with 32 GB storage while Apex 2 has 8 GB storage. The additional storage comes in very handy for downloading topo or regional maps on the watch. You could also use the incremental storage space for personalized music content.
  4. Apex 2 Pro is wider and thicker. For wider wrists, Apex 2 Pro looks like a stunner.
